MY ULTHERAPY EXPERIENCE:

I had my first Ultherapy procedure at Enlighten MD September 17, 2019. I’m so excited to share my positive experience and honest opinions with you! I arrived 45 minutes to an hour before the procedure so the numbing cream could be applied to the area that would be treated. The waiting area is very quiet and relaxing with tv and magazines. Also, there’s a private area with coffee, tea, water, and snacks!

I won’t lie, I was a little nervous about it after seeing random videos on people’s thoughts on the pain level of the procedure. However, let me clarify… these people did not go to Enlighten MD for their Ultherapy! During the procedure, the aesthetician asked me how was I doing and I’m serious when I say… it did not hurt and I was completely fine! Therefore, she was able to turn it up and make it a little more intense for me. Since I was not feeling any pain because the numbing cream they have works so well!

So, the moral of the story is NOT ALL-MED SPA’S ARE CREATED EQUAL! Enlighten MD completely exceeded my expectations and I would choose them over and over again. I realized I had worked myself up for nothing after watching those YouTube videos! And like I said above, I actually told my aesthetician she could turn it up a notch or two and make it even stronger! I also did this on my return visit for my “FREE” (and included in the procedure price) ‘Touch Up Booster Appointment’ 4 months later in February of this year as well.

New collagen has been strengthening and changing from 2 -3 months after my first Ultherapy Procedure that I had at Enlighten MD all the way up until now! Isn’t that absolutely incredible?

ULTHERAPY DETAILS:

The main purpose of Ultherapy is to separate the face and neck so the correct amount of ultra-sound is administered to each region. The very best part of Ultherapy is that everything is happening well below the surface of your skin so that you look perfectly fine when you’re leaving. Ultherapy uses focused ultrasound energy to help stimulate the growth of new, healthy collagen in the skin’s foundation that will help to lift and tighten skin.

It works by penetrating deep into our skin, going past the epidermis and dermis layer. To heat up our body’s superficial muscular aponeurotic system, which is a layer of muscles and connective tissue rich in collagen. When this soft tissue is warmed up, collagen is produced thus firming up loose, saggy skin.

Unique to Ultherapy is the use of ultrasound imaging. This allows the doctor to see the layers of skin tissue that he or she is treating. It allows them to deliver the energy accurately and to where it will be most beneficial. Specifically, it penetrates the skin at depths of 4.5mm, 3.0mm, and 1.5mm to induce collagen production. The more boney areas might be a bit more uncomfortable than areas that are more fleshy. Comfort levels vary from person to person, but the sensation only lasts while the ultrasound energy is being delivered.

IN CONCLUSION:

After your Ultherapy, it will be a good idea to avoid unprotected sun exposure for a couple weeks after treatment. But as you know, you should always protect your skin from the sun’s harmful UV rays. There is no need to avoid work, exercise, or social activities. I literally met a friend for lunch right after mine.

 I also want to make sure you know that part of the fun of having Ultherapy is watching & waiting for your results to appear. Although you’re likely not to see a dramatic change right away, plenty of people do notice a subtle improvements in their skin’s laxity and firmness a day or so after the treatment.

It takes some time for the final results to appear after Ultherapy because your body is working to produce more collagen. The energy from the ultrasound kick-starts the production of collagen, which diminishes with age. The skin has more support and sagging diminishes as collagen is produced.

To decrease possible irritation, Ultherapy isn’t usually combined with other treatments. However, you might ask about additional treatments that you could add later on if there are things that still bother you that Ultherapy doesn’t focus on.

Such as a laser treatment to help with dark spots, cherry angiomas (aka red moles) and discoloration. I for instance added THIS OTHER TREATMENT (from Enlighten MD) to my neck and chest (and a small spot on my cheek). That completely rejuvenated my skin making it look and feel so much healthier!

The results from Ultherapy are subtle, natural. And best of all you do not have to worry about having any scars after an Ulthera session like you would after surgery. People between the ages of 40 and 60 tend to benefit from it the most. But people of any age will see an improvement in their appearance with Ulthera.

WHAT ELSE I’M DOING:

Finally, I couldn’t be happier with my results! I’m also considering treating my upper face with Ultherapy as well. Or even trying a Fraxel Procedure to work in combination with my Photofacial that I had on my neck and chest.

Plus I’m also going to be doing a touch up on both my brows and my laser hair removal so be on the lookout for that next as well!
