I don’t know about you, but I’m feelin’ 22! As most of you already know, I don’t care much for resolutions. For me personally, New Year’s resolutions just don’t work for me, and I end up breaking them a couple of weeks into the new year. Thus, this year I have chosen to refocus myself in alignment with the word “equanimity,” rather than setting specific resolutions. Equanimity is the skill and practice of not giving your power away. I’m excited to adopt this mentality – a state of composure, inner peace, self-control, and confidence. Along with this behavior, I’m also excited for a daily dose of detox, healthy eating, daily movement, sunlight and an overall active yet fun lifestyle! After many years of learning what works best for me, I want to share these in hopes of motivating and pushing you to reach your own goals. Plus, share a few of my favorite wellness tips along the way, in hopes that each of us may reach a state of equanimity all year long!

Ninety20 Fitness

As you may already know, I also do Ninety20. I’ve been consistently doing it a couple times a week for several years now. Ninety20 is a 20 minute EMS (Electro Muscular Stimulation) workout that equates to a 90-minute high-intensity gym class or personal training session! Ninety20 can easily be added along with your existing workout routine because only one class a week is recommended to maintain a wellness routine. But sometimes when my middle daughter is home visiting I will sometimes do it twice a week. Read more about 90/20 HERE. Train Pilates

 Train Pilates Studio is a fully equipped pilates studio in the heart of Bluffview in Dallas that offers private sessions as well as group classes. I personally love doing private sessions with friends. They have a 6-person maximum and are open-level; the trainers provide individual correction, cues and modifications as needed to all participants. With the individual modifications by the trainers, I always feel like I’m performing each exercise correctly, maximizing my workout while maintaining a wellness routine at many different levels. Equinox

And lastly, I walk/run either outside whenever the weather permits or on the Curve or Woodway Treadmill plus a variety of fitness classes at Equinox. Some of my favorite instructors include: David Case, Liz Terry, Dustin Miller, Alexa Snelleman, Meredith Madden, Chris X & Bob Harbeson.

Formula Wellness

I see Dr. Rudman at Formula Wellness to help keep my thyroid function in order as well as all my hormone levels. He does my blood work every few months. I also went here for testing to find out exactly what foods I am allergic to as well. I am feeling so much better now it’s just unbelievable! From Weight Loss Programs & Supplements to Vitamin Infusions & Fit Shots to Hormone Replacement Therapy Dr. Rudman & Chrissy absolutely cover it all! And just about every time I check they’ve added a new location somewhere in or around the DFW area.

Wellness Wednesday’s Live with Wade College

A few years ago, Wade College launched a student wellness initiative spearheaded by psychology professor & licensed therapist Tara Valure, called “Wellness Wednesdays,” where, each Wednesday, she shares wellness tips and advice across a variety of topics with Wade College students. I’m incredibly excited to share that, starting in February, Tara & Wade College will be bringing Wellness Wednesdays to Instagram, where we can all benefit from Tara’s wonderful advice!

In addition to posting wellness tips every Wednesday, there will also be a series of Instagram Lives for those of you interested in a more interactive wellness session. The first two Wellness Wednesday Lives will take place on Wednesday, February 16th & Wednesday, March 2nd, both at 7 PM CST. I’ll send out reminders on my social media as we get closer to these dates, but I wanted to give you a heads up about them

They will be hosted on the Wade College Instagram and the topics will include general wellness topics such as time management tips and stress management etc. We are open to suggestions of topic discussions so please advise if there is something in particular that you would like us to cover as well!

WHAT DO I EAT?

Sakara:

As most of you know I do try and eat gluten-free most of the time (because I have Hashimoto’s and therefore, I also have hypothyroidism & Raynaud’s Syndrome as well). Plus I am dairy-free; it has upset my stomach for as long as I can remember.     Oh my goodness I just loved reading about all you do! I follow you on IG but never knew you had a blog. I am 51 and consider myself in pretty good shape but after looking at you I’m blown away! I want to copy every thing you do and eat what you eat haha. I live in Iowa so we don’t have many of the cutting edge things available. Would you share any facial surgeries, or fillers that you get done? I appreciate your transparency and openness to share as you motivate me!! Thanks so much!

      Aww well thank you so very much! And to answer your question I’ve only ever had botox done so far. I’m lucky and inherited my Cherokee Indian mother’s cheekbones and my Italian father’s lips so no filler as of yet. Thanks for reaching out & your kind words.
